How did you get into the Green Industry?

"I fell into the landscaping industry in High School working for a small residential installation company over the summers. My love for landscaping grew very early because I loved being outside and the work was very tactile in building outdoor spaces of enjoyment for customers. I knew very little about other careers I'd pursue, so I obtained a Horticulture degree that led me to the commercial contracting side of the industry for nearly 12 years prior to coming to LandscapeHub. I can relate well with what our users are up against on a daily basis and the many hats they must wear to be successful."

What is your favorite plant? 

"There are so many, but Baptisia (Blue False Indigo) tops the list due to its one of a kind bluish/purple flower and when it's in bloom, it reminds me a Michigan summer vacation is near."

What are the trends in your territory? 

"I believe the most obvious is the uptick in larger plant material requested from residents that are staying closer to home from the pandemic. There are definitely some evergreens and other trees that are short in the market where contractors are having to get creative in slight variations for substitutions. Examples: Techny Arb for Nigra Arb and European Hornbeams for Regal Prince Oaks."

Plant predictions for 2023? 

"Good luck finding 8' + Techny. Call me."
